HOLY BLOOD
semester project
summer 2018
In collaboration with the German Red Cross, I developed new concepts to promote blood donation. Inspired by paintings by Lucas Cranach and the consistent poster art by Gunther Rambow, I developed a series of posters that extremely connects the ritual character of blood donation with the traditions of Christianity in a provocative way.
The project was supposed to test the limits of communication and asked the question „What is still shocking today?“ I combined the portraits of sacred reeds with quotes from liturgical texts. Almost inconspicuously, elements of blood donation mix with the sacred scenery, which ultimately unites to form an extreme statement.
At the same time, it should not be forgotten that both religion and blood donation have similar values, such as charity, hope and cohesion.
